Qiu Quan (Joe) is a Singapore-based visual artist who is particularly interested in wildlife. He graduated from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) in Singapore, with a Diploma in Graphic Design, after which he pursued his passion for wildlife. He was a zookeeper at Mandai Wildlife Group for twenty years, during which he developed a deep connection with the animals under his care, and gained a great appreciation for native wildlife. When he lived in Western Australia, he volunteered with native wildlife rehabilitation efforts. He currently assists with wildlife rescue and management in Singapore.
Naturally, Qiu Quan draws inspiration from biodiversity. His preferred medium is ink (Rotring technical pen) on paper, although he utilises other media as well. Through his art, he aims to highlight the beauty of wildlife, in particular that of native species, thus fostering appreciation for our natural heritage, raising awareness of their conservation threats and promoting human-wildlife coexistence.
